Galapagos – Marquesas – Day 3

Day 3: 18.04.18 1800 UTC, 1200 BoatTime
Position: 5:03S 95:09W COG: 240 SOG: 5,4 (average 24 hrs) Wind:12-20 kn SE Sailed distance: 402 Sailed last 24 hours: 136 Distance to Fatu Hiva: 2622 Weather: Varied, but nice. Overcast today. Nice SE winds from around 4 degrees south. Sea state: 1.5 – 2.0 m swell from SE. A bit rolly.
Fishing: Trying, but no luck. Well, we did catch a fish net with our propeller and rudder….
Mainly motorsailing until 14:00 local time where we had our first rain for a very, very long time. After that a steady wind from SE was being more and more apparent. Were we there already? The trades that are going to take us to Marquesas?
Just before sunset, I heard Mrs. Wifi say something like…..there is yet another plastic bottle floating. Did not think much of it, but then I saw it too. Keeping a steady distance off our stern. With something green stretching from the bottle and underneath our boat. S…….t. We had caught a fishing net. A 360 did not solve the problem. The Capt. had to dive with a safety rope and a diving nife to cut it free from the propeller. We managed to do that just before the lights went out for the day. The old remnants of a net is safely stored with our plastic rubbish onboard. Luckily for us were sailing, and not motoring at the time.
Started the engine again just before noon today. A small rain shower passed us and left no wind.
All is well.

I am the Captain of this ship, and I have my Wife´s permission to say so!
