Galapagos – Marquesas – Day 18

Day 18: 03.05.18 2000 UTC, 1200 BoatTime (UTC-8)
Position: 9:36S 127:52W COG: 265 SOG: 5,1 (average 24 hrs) Wind: 8-12 kn E Sailed distance: 2388 Sailed last 24 hours: 122 Distance to Fatu Hiva: 630 (great circle line, updated)
Weather: Nice! Some cloud activity during the night.
Wind dropped to almost nothing during the night with a negative impact on average speed. Motorsailing parts of the night to avoid to much banging and flapping of the sails/rig. Wind picked up a bit in the morning, but not enough to make KEA do more than 5 – something knots. Some bigger waves are making boat speed drop and sails flap/bang.
School is still good. It seems like math is a favorite at sea, but also reading both Norwegian and English. The kids are also working on their next blogpost.
Sea state: 1.0 – 1.5 m swell from SE.
Fishing: Nothing to report. Still something left from the Big Bonito (freezer).
CsB still within sight.
All is well.
