New Caledonia – Australia – Day 1

Day 1: 18.10.18 0100 UTC, 1200 BoatTime (UTC+11)
Position: 23:09S 163:50E
COG: 240 & 260 SOG: 5,9 (average 20 hrs) Wind: 5 – 25 SE – N Sailed distance: 160 nm Sailed last 27 hours: 160 nm Distance to Bundaberg, Australia: 640 nm
Weather: Nice, but a few light rain showers during the night and heavy fog for half an hour in the morning.
A flying start. 20-25kts of wind, 120 degrees on the boat making even KEA a fast vessel. The waves were substantial but manageable. Towards midnight the wind faded away and we had to start the engine. It is still running, but with a little help from the sails we are maintaining OK speed without burning a lot of diesel.
Had a wonderful Mrs.Wifi-made-lasagna for dinner. The Kidz and the Captain agreed that it had to be one of the best dinner aboard KEA and definitely one of the best lasagnas in the world. At least in the Pacific….
Sea state: 2,5 – 3 m.
Fishing: Not started. Need to eat whats inside the fridge before meeting Biosecurity in Australia 🙂
CsB within sight.
All is well.
